HeySA is a free app that lists events and places for families and adults across South Australia. Last updated 8 October 2026.
Nothing is collected on a server. Your favourites, archive, filters and settings are stored on your own device.
If you choose to sign in, HeySA asks Google for your name and email address (shown in the menu so you know which account is signed in) and for access to a private app-data file in your own Google Drive. That file holds your list of favourited and archived items, plus a few app settings (whether "With kids" is on or off, your drive-time radius, the filter buttons and which sections are open), so they can be shared across your devices. It is visible only to you and to HeySA running in your browser; HeySA's operator cannot see it. The app does not access any other files in your Drive. While you are signed in, Google's short-lived sign-in token (valid for about an hour) is kept in your browser, so a refresh doesn't need to ask Google again. Signing out removes it.
If you email us, we receive your email address and message. We use them only to reply.
If you allow it, your device location is used in your browser to sort places by distance. It is not stored or sent to us.
HeySA uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which parts of the app are used, so it can be improved. This sets cookies in your browser and sends Google anonymised information such as your approximate area, device type and the pages you view. It also records which items and links you tap (for example that a place's directions or booking link was opened), which settings you use, and what you search for in shortened form, so we can see what is useful and show venues how many people were interested. It does not include your favourites, your email address or your exact location. If you sign in with Google, a one-way code made from your Google account (not your email or name) is also sent, so signed-in people are counted once across their devices. You can opt out by turning on "Do Not Track" in your browser or by using Google's opt-out add-on.
We do not sell, share or send your data to anyone. The app contacts Google only when you sign in or sync, and map and event links go to their own websites.
Sign out from the menu to stop syncing. To remove the synced file, visit your Google account's connected apps, choose HeySA and delete its stored data. Clearing the site's data in your browser removes the local copy.
